Honour the Now, The Present Moment in Daily Living

In this video I would like to speak about honouring the now. First let us just discuss what is the now. The obvious answer is the now is whatever we can perceive, whatever we can see around us, what sounds we can hear, maybe the feelings we have within that could be the now. So if this is the now how can you honour the now? if what you see is the now, if what you hear right now is the now, than how can you honour the now?

Now we must understand one thing whatever we see in the now, whatever we hear in the now, whatever we feel in the now, There is some energy that is running the show. The energy which makes seeing possible, which makes hearing possible, which makes thinking possible and this energy that shines out of you through your perceiving capabilities is what you need to honour.

You can use this power of your true self, of this energy within to live life beautifully. But for that you need to understand the concept of the now. So one thing is clear.. we know what the now is and we know there is this powerful perceiving presence within us that makes all seeing and hearing possible.

For example : You have got to send your friend a detailed email about a certain concept and you know you have to send that email, but you are just thinking about how are you going to start writing that email. So currently this power within you is trapped in thought. But what you have to do is send an email. So say 5 min you think about the concept you have got to send but you are still not satisfied with it.

So this power of the now is trapped in thought. It is trapped in the concept of what my friend will think about my email. You are not letting it flow into your work. You are not starting to type that email. You can only honour the now by letting it work for you, by bringing what you got to do to the now.

So many of us are spending hours thinking about the future, thinking about something that needs to be done two weeks later, we are just planning for it, we are continuously planning and all the tasks are left behind. It is only when we start working on the task, something we can do right now.

Forget two weeks later, what is it we can do right now for that goal. What is it that I can do right now for that goal, what is it I can use this perceiving presence, this power and energy within me, what is it I can use that for. Which task can I complete using this power now. That the most important thing, not thought.

Because if you are just thinking about the goal, that is good thing you are feeling good. So there is some kind of form coming into the now which is good feeling. But then if you keep doing this and time starts running out, you have a deadline, then slowly anxiety starts to build up. Because you are still thinking. You are still thinking what you need to do, how you need to do it. And now you are using the now to create anxiety, worry and fear in your life.

But two weeks earlier when you were comfortable thinking of your goal. if you had started using the now to work on your goal, to do whatever you could do at that point of time for your goal, 3 or 4 days later you are in a better position to complete that goal.

So honouring the now is about doing what you can do in the now, its about using this power within you to bring into form something that will help you in the future. You entire future depends on what you do right now.

So we need to work towards understanding and acknowledging this presence with us. It is only when we acknowledge this presence that we will not be stuck in thought about the future and sometimes about the past.

You can only learn something from thoughts about the past but you can only take action in the now. So if you do not action your tasks in the now and do not keep your entire presence of mind in the now, working on that task however small it is. It could be washing the utensils at home, it could be mopping the floor, it could be cleaning your cupboard, whatever it is, it is in the now and you have this ample, abundant energy within you that can take form if you use it doing the task at hand.

But again if you go into though which are of negative nature, the form that will be created will be that of anxiety, fear, doubt and all the wrong chemicals will be spilt in your body making you feel terrible.

So lets honour the now by thinking about what I can do right now for my goals. Not sitting down and dreaming about truck loads of cash, how it will come in and what are the steps I need to do to achieve that. Start working on the steps. Start participating everyday in the now with your tasks. Start working on them immediately. That is the only way you can complete your goals without creating any kind of negative energy in the now.
